Discuss.

1.) If there was one 'skill' that you could instantly acquire (ie. a martial art, physical ability, language you could speak, etc.), what would it be?

2.) How many hours would be in the ideal day? Why?

3.) Describe a smell that brings back fond memories.

4.) Tell me about a small personality quirk of yours that I might find endearing. (I'll start for this one: I occasionally talk in my sleep, and will sometimes act things out. For instance, a few nights back I was apparently dreaming that I was at work when I said, "Sounds good, I'll get right on that." and started to "type" on the pillow next to me.)

1. Playing the piano. I'd love to just be able to jump on there and bang out somethin' real hot, like, Jerry Lee Lewis-style.

2. Twenty-six, because it works better with my body clock. I could stay up until late at night, then easily get up "early" the next morning.

3. Turkey and mashed potatoes reminds me of Christmas at grandma and grandpa's. But, I dunno, there must be some secret ingredient she used in her cooking that made the house smell exactly like that, which I've never encountered anywhere else. (We take turns having it at our place then my aunt & uncle's these days.)

4. I only buy bananas in naturally-occurring bunches of five. Four just looks too small, and six looks like I took the whole damn plantation. Mind you, this often leaves bananas left over, because the window in which bananas are perfect is maybe 36 hours, tops.

And now off to make banana bread instead of working on my term paper in quantitative research methods.

1) Comedy "Ability to pick up any skill fast" Skill.

2) This is a difficult question. 24 hours is perfectly acceptable if a) only 4 hours of sleep was enough to have that "Oh, man that was such a great sleep I practically forgot who I was by the time I woke up" kind of sleep and b) Society didn't require a minimum of 8 hours of work a day to be able to afford to live. I prefer to have more waking hours to myself than working. So by current calculations that requires 8 (work) + 1 (commute time) + 1 (that hour it takes to wake up and get ready for work) + 10 (Me time) + 7 (sleep). That's 27. But if you reduce work by three or sleep by three, that leaves 24. I should also work some sort of slope or limit calculation into this but I'll leave that as an exercise for the readers.

3) Napalm. It reminds of overused move quotes.

4) Not to turn this is to a banana thread but jtl's comment reminded me that I don't really have the nerve to commit to bunches of banana's that are larger than three. If I see a bunch of four or more-ish, I think it's too decadent and I'll never be able to finish them. So instead I'll break off individual bananas and buy two or three that aren't attached to each other. It's sort of a banana segregation society I suppose.

1) Teleportation. Seriously. I honestly do love walking, but sometimes it would be so wonderful to be somewhere instantly.... I tend to be very paranoid about being late for anything, so being able to teleport would take away some stress. Aside from teleportation, I wish I knew more Irish than the little bit I do know. And French. Why, oh why, did I drop it after grade nine? Oh, right. Mr. Laville.
2) Well, I think that the main problem with how days are now is the fact that I get more done at night. So really, it's more of an issue that our society works on the stupid 9-5 thing, when really I wouldn't even start being productive until around 3pm. Basically I'm just on a completely different time clock which screws me over 'cause I don't get enough sleep.
3) I really can't think of anything at the moment.
4) Since both Jason and Dave have brought up bananas, I feel as if I should mention that I don't like them. Them, meaning bananas and not Jason and Dave. Also, the typing on the pillow thing made me laugh, Ryan. Anyway.... A small personality quirk of mine that you might find endearing would be.... hmmmm.... actually, this is pretty tough 'cause I find myself to be incredibly annoying and am often frustrated with myself because of my personality quirks (and other things).

1. I would like to be fully bilingual with either French, Italian, or some exotic language like Welsh or Mandarin.
2. Right now, the days feel too long, especially with the change of the clocks - so I'd say 22 hours would be nice. However, when I'm busy, a longer day - 26 or more hours - would be nice.
3. My mom made her spaghetti sauce while she was recently visiting and the smell of it reminded me of family dinners of the very distant past. My mom's food is alway evocative; she is a great cook.
4. Hmm...I'll ask my husband...Oh, I have great facial expressions, quite a large repertoire, actually. You'll always know what I'm thinking.

1. Hmmm.... Is "Omnipotentism" a skill?... No?... Damn. Having the natural linguistic abilities to pick up any language in little or no time would be an amazing skill... But then again so would teleportation!

2. It all depends... When you're busy or in love, there's never ever enough time in the day... When you're not, the days are too long. 24 hours seems resonable to me.

3. The tasty smell of girls' hair always takes me back. Also, the amazing smell of poutine always makes my mouth water!

4. I have the unfortunate quirk of being a very deep sleeper when I'm very tired. I can sleep through my alarm clock... This means that I wake up, walk across the room, turn it off, and crawl back into bed before I "wake" up. When I do finally wake up, I have no memory of doing this.

1. The ability to learn languages really fast. I'd love to be able to go abroad to somewhere for a week and come back fluent in the language.

2. Thirty-six. 12 hours to sleep, 8 hours to work, 2 hours to run errands, and the remaining 14 hours to take it easy and have a good time. I'd also extend the week to eight days, as well.

3. My cottage has it's own distinct, unique smell. It smells like relaxation.

4. See above.
